I’m officially changing my position to that of being against the death penalty.  I do now realize that it is backwards/barbaric, hypocritical, and sets a poor example if we are trying to reduce violence in our society.  I know there’s assholes and monsters out there that probably many people think shouldn’t be alive, but I don’t think it’s up to us to execute them.  I do also believe in a person changing for the good (not that they shouldn’t still be punished with up to life sentences in prison if the crime is horrible), but I think it’s better for someone to die having corrected themselves, and who could perhaps help others in their same type of situation.

The idea of killing as a judicial policy really feels wrong to me now.  Destroying another human being is disgusting, and we should not fall to the levels of the murderers.
