Not only that, but I don’t really like the video that much. I probably wouldn’t have gone with this theme. Even going with this theme, it could’ve been fairly cool, but I feel their execution was pretty light on artistic integrity, and more about the standard pop music flash video. It doesn’t feel like anybody went in and poured their heart and effort into this video, or that there was too much thought behind it. I was hoping for something deeper. Rather, it feels like someone said “hey, so what’s our idea, ok, what’s the schedule, ok, lets throw some ideas together, ok, let’s roll film, ok, let’s get it out there, ok, we’re done, ok, what’s next.” It’s not that it’s that bad a video, just not thenextlevel that I was hoping for.
On a road trip last year we stopped by Apple’s headquarters in Cupertino. We took one picture with my iPhone and some others with our normal Canon camera. iPhoto ‘09 has the cool Places feature where it’ll read geotags in your photos and find out where pictures were taken. The picture I took at Apple with my iPhone (which has geotagging) shows that they got the proper location identification for those GPS coordinates:
So of course I want to add that same location to the rest of my photos taken with my Canon (non-geotagging) camera, but oddly enough, they don’t have “Apple Inc” as an option!! They have tons of Apple Stores, a sales office in Ireland, but not Apple Inc, the name that iPhoto gave for my geotagged picture.
How strange of an oversight is that!? Damn, just noticed the address of that Apple Store in the screen shot there too. Anyway, I figured out that you can get “Apple Inc” to show up as the location if you add a new place (at the bottom up there), and do a Google search for Apple. Crazy omission though. I pity all the fools taking pictures inside the Apple offices. Actually they probably can’t do that, hah!
I’ve recently been exposed to this British man named Dave Gorman. Dave Gorman is a very awesome man. This guy is a great example of living life, and I feel like he really gets it. Of his works, I first watched America Unchained, a great documentary about his attempt to accomplish a transcontinental road trip of the United States without giving any money to “the man”. Then I saw Dave Gorman’s Googlewhack Adventure, which has a funny name, but I had no idea it would elicit so much emotion from me. It had me laughing, worrying, gasping ,standing and cheering, and is probably one of the greatest stories ever told. Dave Gorman (the one in these movies), you are the man… but not *that* man! I feel like we were already like-minded, but you definitely inspire me. Thank you.
Since you can’t even buy these videos in the U.S., here’s links to torrents for them. I recommend not reading more of the descriptions and instead just watching:
Why, oh why do the Japanese insist on taking us there?
I’m very curious to know how much of this development is done by sad men wondering what blowjobs feel like. I mean seriously, we’re going to have to fight a war against machines because of you guys!?
I’m sure most of the readership here has already seen all this, but for those of you who haven’t: it’s really good. It’s somewhat telling when Jon Stewart demonstrates how to do real journalism/a real interview. It all started when The Daily Show had a GREAT segment properly ripping CNBC:
Then Cramer from Mad Money fired back at Stewart and they went back and forth a little bit, until Cramer finally went on the show a few days later. Man does Stewart tell it and show it how it is, FOR ONCE somebody does. It’s ridiculous that The Daily Show at this moment became the most real news interview out there. Thank you Jon Stewart.
Enjoy. It gets really good in part 2 & 3:

What do you mean “OSX MP3 Player”, iTunes DUH. Well… yeah, but I haven’t moved my mp3 collection over to iTunes yet, still wanna go through and sort out newer stuff I haven’t ever organized on the windows side, create like a final up to date folder structure version before handing off power to iTunes. (Yes, I am planning on doing it! :X)
So, I just wanted to share with any of my Mac friends who are interested and might not know that there is a pretty cool MP3 player called Vox.
I was watching my first Lakers game of the season yesterday. They were playing the Portland Trailblazers. I only watched the first half, and almost all of the time I was thinking “Man, the Lakers really suck!” and thinking that they must’ve fallen off or something. Checking their record indicates highly otherwise. Funny timing I guess.
The other thing I was thinking was what I must admit: I can’t love this Lakers team. I don’t even “really like” this Lakers team, I don’t even know if I like them at all. Just, something about the character of the team, the attitude of the players on the team while playing… some combination, they’re just not likable. I mean, you’ve got the old wolf Phil Jackson there, and perhaps a big part is that the top of the pyramid is Kobe, who I don’t like, and nearly everybody underneath him annoys me/pisses me off/or is obnoxious too often. So I’m watching this game, and I’m very quickly finding the Trailblazers to be much more likable on the court, and I catch myself cheering for them!
Not to say I won’t cheer the Lakers on during the playoffs and want them to win - but I feel like much of this feeling is unfounded city-identity/geographical allegiance, forced, fuck it, maybe I won’t! This type of blind devotion is dangerous. I’ve tried to like them but I haven’t been able to. It’s rough. That’s my Lakers team, but it’s not my Lakers team, it hurts! I don’t like them, yet I feel like I can’t turn my back on them. Ahhhh conflict!!! Oy vey, what is one to do when he wants his city to win the NBA championship, but doesn’t like the people on his team? I might be over them. I think I’m going to need to think about this some more. In the meantime, go Portland!
This girl is so awesome. I’ve run across her site a few times when trying to figure out/remember certain things for the 100th time such as ”affect” vs “effect” and ”its” vs. “it’s”. It’s interesting that Grammar Girl is actually blonde, even though her cartoon version is a brunette. Must be that opposite-hair color loving gene. I always love how she starts her stuff with “Grammar Girl here.” Grammar Girl, you rock.
Rremember when those assholes voted yes on prop 8 this past fall here in California? (That’s the one to ban gay marriage) As some of you may be aware, it’s going through the courts now, and I don’t think it’s going to hold up. Not based on how this particular trial is going, but I’ve just been thinking this in general. Right now they’re arguing the case over whether it is an amendment or a revision to the state constitution, the latter of which cannot be passed by a ballot initiative.
The more basic reason I don’t think it’ll hold up is because the state constitution says that you cannot discriminate based on sexual orientation. So, this would not take that provision out, but would instill discrimination into the constitution. You can’t add unconstitutional things to the constitution. Simple as that to me.
I mean, maybe I can round up all the racists in the country, have them move to California, get their residency after a year, put a prop on the ballot to disallow interracial marriage (which was still illegal in some places in the U.S. up to only 40 years ago), strategically put it on a low-turnout election, and have all my racists hit the polls. Now of course that would be hard to pull off, but theoretically it’s possible right? And so then that’s going to be the law? Yeah right. Same shit here.
A while back, my friend of mine sent me this great (and funny!) Prop 8 Musical video, so here it is, try the play button at the bottom if it won’t play using the big one:
Also I’d like to mention how upsetting it is that this passed on the same day that Barack Obama was elected president. I mean, it really upset me when I found out that it passed, but my emotions of Obama excitement overtook any bad feelings caused by this like a tidal wave. But you know, the high waters of tidal waves eventually clear out. As much of a supporter of gays as I am, it must’ve been really rough and an emotional clusterfuck for gay liberals on election day. I mean, that’s just really annoying. It’s like “Hey, your very beloved pet dog/cat just died, and by the way, you won the lottery.” *sigh*
