You are the biggest douchebag there fucking is. You make it an embarrassment to be a fan of yours. I had a backlogged post to finish about high regards for your 808’s & Hearthbreak album - deleted. I was even going to buy that one and maybe future good ones, but fuck that, I am going to continue pirating your shit for the rest of my life. I don’t even want to go to your concert anymore. Lady Gaga should drop out of it too.
WTF were you thinking? How could you do that to somebody, especially her in this situation. I guess you just fucking shut off your hearing completely as to what the person is even saying up there because you’re just thinking about what stupid shit YOU’RE about to do, and it is some stupid shit. You’re such a jackass.
I’m kicking myself for not doing my original post a couple weeks ago, which had the same subject line and then contained only the following sentence:
Kanye West & Lady Gaga
Miss Strange sends word that they are going on tour together! I have a couple of backblogs to post, one that’s been lingering forever about 808’s & Heartbreak, and one about Lady Gaga, which I’ll just do right now since it’s short:
I’d like to say that Lady Gaga is someone that I really like. I think she’s got serious artistic talent, which results in a number of good songs, and I appreciate and strongly agree with her social, financial, and artistic views. In short, I think she’s really cool.
And I feel the same about Kanye West (post still to come), and they’re both also very honest and real people, so I had been thinking that these two need to hook up. I admire them both, so of course I’m very excited about the tour! Hopefully the venues won’t implode from not being able to handle the level of artistry that will emanate from the stage. It’s a gift to society when two artists like this make it to mainstream, and to have them share the stage equally to entertain the masses, just beautiful. I’m not saying that either one is a perfect person or anything, for any haters who have already fainted by this time in the post. But, I do believe they are great.
Some jackasses pulled the accoustic “Poker Face” off YouTube, which is too bad, as it was quite a good version, but instead you’ll just have to enjoy this one of “Paparazzi” from the same event:
Ah, the conservatism/censorship (same thing) of Wal-Mart. Good for Green Day. There’s a couple really good quotes from the guys in that article, such as:
They want artists to censor their records in order to be carried in there. We just said no. We’ve never done it before. You feel like you’re in 1953 or something.
Meanwhile, violent gory R-rated horror movies (or even unrated versions) like the Saw series, and other movies ridden with cursing are sold there, along with firearms.
By the way, in case you’ve never seen WAL-MART: The High Cost of Low Price, .plan highly recommends that you do. They got it on Netflix streaming. My girlfriend introduced me to it, yet for some odd reason her extremely liberal ass doesn’t want to ever finish watching the last 15 minutes of it.
Fuck yeah, actually. Me and my friend Murt were talking about our Pandora stations the other day, and we were mentioning how we both guess we need to listen to more Journey as they come up on our stations and we like some of their songs. Turns out I think I only like this one so far, but I like it a lot. Anyway, then after reading about the band, major childhood visual memory connection!: I remembered that I always had/played this weird video game when I was a little kid but never knew what it was, thought it was some sort of weird space adventure, and couldn’t understand why I had to run away from the legged hearts in space. Of course I ran at them and died unexpectedly the first time or two that I played (if I recall the game correctly). HAH! Who knew that 25 years later I’d find out what it was.
Embedding is disabled on all versions of this video so you’ll have to click through. I’m sure many know of her already, but this is just the best. Of course it’s even greater when you read her backstory. Susan Boyle, you are an inspiration for the world, you are what we need.
Not only that, but I don’t really like the video that much. I probably wouldn’t have gone with this theme. Even going with this theme, it could’ve been fairly cool, but I feel their execution was pretty light on artistic integrity, and more about the standard pop music flash video. It doesn’t feel like anybody went in and poured their heart and effort into this video, or that there was too much thought behind it. I was hoping for something deeper. Rather, it feels like someone said “hey, so what’s our idea, ok, what’s the schedule, ok, lets throw some ideas together, ok, let’s roll film, ok, let’s get it out there, ok, we’re done, ok, what’s next.” It’s not that it’s that bad a video, just not thenextlevel that I was hoping for.
Girls Aloud have announced their third single off Out of Control. It is going to be “Untouchable”. That’s right, the epic near 7 minute song will be a single! Fans could have only hoped that such would occur, but I think most expected them to go with something more friendly and safe, such as “Rolling Back the Rivers in Time”. This is like the best possible single that we thought would be too good to actually happen.
Anyway, Girls Aloud are already awesome, but this sets up my true test of awesomeness for this act. I’m fairly confident that there will be a radio edit version of this single, but the true test is the music video. They’re awesome if they do the full 7 minute video for this.
Make it great. Make it artistic. Have it tell some sort of story.
I find most of Beyoncé’s music to be obnoxious, primarily in beat and the tone in which she sings and enunciates her lyrics. On top of that, I don’t like her lyrics often times, such as in her most recent single in which the chorus goes “If you like it then you shoulda put a ring on it (repeat x20)”. What is she talking about, what is “it”? I should put a ring on anything I like? I should get a big ring to put around my MacBook? She’s not talking about women right? If so, why would she demean them to an “it”? Actually, I just found an interesting blog post about Beyoncé and socially conservative ideology. Anyway, I digress.
Last night at the Neighborhood Ball, Beyoncé sang in honor of the first couple’s first dance. It was not the Beyoncé that I am often annoyed by. It was what could have been a different woman in the same body. I would love if she had songs like this on the radio. Two other things I realized:
#1: Wow she is a really amazing singer!
#2: Damn she is beautiful!
I really like this first dance not just because of the music and the love that is apparent between Barack and Michelle, but the title and headline lyric of the song, “at last”, can mean more than one thing here, and the whole thing just exudes a big sigh of comfort from me.
