The World Trade Center

On September 11th, 2001, over three thousand innocent people lost their lives in what suddenly without warning became the largest attack on the United States of America in the history of our nation. The day that changed the country, the day that changed the world. The day a snapshot of regained innocence and care-free times ended. The day that everybody felt uneasy, unsure, confused, and angry. The day that veterans and those who lived Pearl Harbor, those who critisized an "un-appreciative" generation that took everything for granted, who were maybe a bit jealous of the good times that we were living in, were silenced. A nightmare from which everybody wanted to wake. The most tragic event in US History, September 11th, a day that nobody will ever forget.

Another busy Tuesday morning when suddenly out of nowhere, at 8.45am, American Airlines Flight 11, a 767 jet carrying 92 people which was highjacked out of Boston, crashes into the north tower of the World Trade Center, tearing a gaping hole in the building and setting it afire. 18 minutes later, at 9.03am, United Airlines Flight 175, another 767 jet carrying 65 people also highjacked out of Boston, crashes into the south tower of the World Trade Center. Everybody now realizes that this is an intentional attack. Both flights were originally destined for Los Angeles, and accordingly had massive amounts of fuel for the flight, causing much explosion and fire after impact with the towers.

At 9.43am, American Airlines Flight 77, a 757 jet carrying 64 passengers highjacked out of Washington DC, crashes into the Pentagon, killing hundreds. Meanwhile in New York, the towers continue to burn. Hundreds of firefighters are working feverishly to rescue those trapped inside. Many trapped on the upper levels jump out of the towers, some couples seen holding hands as they fall to their death.
